Vintage Seaside Festival Wins 'Best Event' at the Skegness Business Awards

Lincolnshire Coastal BID takes home ‘BEST Event in Skegness’

The Lincolnshire Coastal Destination Bid (Visit Lincs Coast) was nominated for an award for ‘Best Event’ in Skegness at the annual Skegness Business Awards which were held at Southview Hotel on the evening of Friday 30th November.

After months of hard work and planning the BID provided Skegness with the ‘Vintage Seaside Festival’. This was a two-day event which focused predominantly on celebrating the traditional heritage of the seaside. The event itself was mainly held in Tower Gardens, Skegness Pier, The Royal Hotel and Compass Gardens. There was live music from The Blight Belles, performances from Punch and Judy, a Vintage Market and much more ending with a sell-out outdoor cinema screening of Grease!

Melvyn Prior from BBC Radio Lincolnshire announced the Vintage Seaside Festival as the winner of the award and the whole team were absolutely delighted.

Lisa Collins BID Manager said ‘The first year of the BID has been challenging at times but also very rewarding and winning the award is a great way to end the year. As a team we now have a proven track record of event delivery and we are now busy planning ahead for 2019. This award is testimony to the hard work of the team, Board and local business community who we would like to thank everyone that attended the event or helped in any way. The BID, which trades as Visit Lincs Coast has delivered a full programme of projects, events and marketing, we look forward to developing this further over the next year, including new ways of marketing further afield and group travel offers and incentives for coach operators. We acknowledge and recognise the challenges that businesses face and endeavour to work together to ensure the area retains its appeal to our traditional visitors whilst challenging perceptions of the area to non-visitors, to encourage them to come and visit our fabulous area and attractions. There is much to celebrate and we should enter 2019 with renewed optimism and enthusiasm, recognising the diversity of our area and showcasing the vast range of businesses across our leisure and tourism offer.’

Congratulations to everybody who was nominated at the Skegness Business Awards 2018, it is clear to see that the Skegness business community is thriving.

Don’t forget to add next years Vintage Seaside Festival dates to your diary ‘7TH & 8th September 2019 – Tower Gardens’.
