A new website for tourism in East Lincolnshire

Tourism in East Lincolnshire is being given a boost with a brand new, inspirational website!

This is East Lindsey District Council’s official tourism website for East Lincolnshire, promoting the area to visitors and residents. The website provides ideas for those considering a short break and information for those that have already chosen East Lincolnshire for their visit. The website will also provide ideas for residents planning a day out and include some of the events taking place across the area.

The new website, developed in partnership with Lincoln-based Root Studio boasts competitions, accommodation, things to do, places to eat and drink, shopping, a news section and polls. The site is also more user friendly, providing visitors with the ability to customise searches and a flexible events calendar.

Whilst the site that has been launched places a strong emphasis on the coast, work has already begun on a website for the inland tourism offer, which will place a greater focus on the Wolds, market towns, countryside and their many hidden gems.

Tourism businesses are being offered an opportunity of a free listing on the new website using the ‘create a listing’ function. There is no cost for this service and it allows businesses to manage their listing, keeping details up to date and list any forthcoming events.

Portfolio Holder for the Coastal Economy Councillor Steve Kirk said, “The new website has a fresh new look and really shows off what East Lincolnshire has to offer as a visitor destination. Tourism is important to East Lindsey and the new website will provide visitors with lots of information for an unforgettable holiday.”

East Lincolnshire currently attracts around 4million visitors each year with tourism worth around £555million to the economy and employing around 8,000 people.

Tourism Officer at the Council, Karen Edwards said, “The website is much more user friendly than the previous site and offers a wider range of options for both visitors and residents. There are many new features which we feel will be appealing such as competitions, polls and an events calendar which provides information on local events.

“We have a real ambition to grow the visitor economy in East Lincolnshire and this website will provide a good basis to do just that, integrating with a much wider programme of digital marketing that reaches out to potential visitors.”
