Visit Lincs Coast presents AMCA Beach Race

The Amateur Motor Cycle Association, organisers of the annual Skegness Motocross Beach Race and the Visit Lincs Coast BID team are delighted to announce that they will be joining forces to grow the event further and attract even more visitors to Skegness and the surrounding area in the coming years.

The event which is now entering it’s ninth year is due to take place on 10th and 11th November. The first event took place in December 2010 and from small beginnings has grown year on year with 2017 bringing in an estimated 25,000 visitors to the event over the two day period.

The motocross event which sees hundreds of competitors battling against the tough demands of the purpose built track spanning the length and breadth of Skegness beach is popular with locals motorsport enthusiast but also attracts motocross riders and fans from far and wide. The winner of the 2017 race was Frenchman Milko Potisek who put in his second appearance at the event and took home the £1,000 first prize.

The involvement of the Visit Lincs Coast BID team with the event will see increased marketing in the build up to the event which will in turn generate increased visitor numbers throughout the weekend, bringing in much needed revenue for local businesses in what is typically a quiet time of year. For the 2018 event a large five metre colour screen will be situated on the promenade so that spectators can keep abreast of the leader board as it changes throughout the racing.

The event has benefitted from the outset with local support from the East Lindsey District Council and more latterly from Magna Vitae trust, the hotelier’s association SECWHA along with the Chamber of Commerce and Skegness Partnership. Local independent businesses have also given the organisers a big Skegness welcome to help develop and grow the event into what it is today. It is hoped with the added investment from the Visit Lincs Coast BID team that this growth can continue which will benefit the entire area and local economy.

General Manager Suzanne Potts said ‘The whole AMCA team, riders and supporters love coming to Skegness, the beach is perfect for the event and the townsfolk are so welcoming. We’re looking forward to working with the BID team to develop the event further and establish it firmly as one of the largest off road motorsport events in the country.’

Lee Roberts Project Co-Ordinator for Visit Lincs Coast (Lincs Coastal DBID) said ‘We are thrilled to be supporting AMCA beach race in Skegness. Our beach is the perfect event space and we are confident that this will help extend the seasonality of the town. We now have the opportunity to promote the event and build up momentum to make it bigger and better year on year. One of the aims of the DBID is to increase footfall and visitor spend in the area and we feel that AMCA will not only attract the competitors to the area but also their families and motocross enthusiasts – therefore having an impact on the local economy.’
